What is Fortnite Arena Mode? Here’s What You Need to Know

by | Feb 9, 2022

Before you get started on Fortnite, you need to get to know the different modes. One of these is the Fortnite Arena Mode. What exactly is it and how can you dominate there? Read on to find out!

What is Fortnite Arena?

Arena mode in Fortnite was specially designed to help players reach a higher competitive level. If you’re looking to experiment with your building, practice your aim, editing, and rotating skills, this is the place to be. Fortnite matches players according to their skill level as well as a points system, so you get to play with those with similar strengths. The higher you rank, the more difficult your opponents will be. If you succeed at Arena Mode, you’ll be able to unlock other much-awaited events including the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers! Those who are only looking to gain more skills and rank up can join weekly competitive events instead.

Fortnite Arena Leagues and Divisions

Fornite categorizes players into different leagues and divisions. There are 3 Leagues which are further divided into Divisions based on a player’s Hype points. You’ll need more and more Hype points the further you progress through each league.

Open League

  • Division 1: 0-249 Hype points
  • Division 2: 250-499 Hype points
  • Division 3: 500-999 Hype points
  • Division 4: 1000-1499 Hype points
\

Contender League

  • Division 1: 1500-2499 Hype points
  • Division 2: 2500-3999 Hype points
  • Division 3: 4000-5999 Hype points
\

Champion League

  • Division 1: 6000-11999 Hype points
  • Division 2: 12000-15999 Hype points
  • Division 3: 16000+ Hype points

Getting to an Arena Mode Match

Like Battle Royale mode, you’ll need to hop on a buss and pay a certain fare to get to the Fortnite Arena. Your fare is based on the number of Hype points you need to enter a division. The base fare (which is the fare for the Open League Division 4) starts at 40. The bus fare increases by 10 with each succeeding division, ending with 70 for the Champion League Division 3.

Fortnite Arena Mode Tips

Fortnite Arena mode can either be played alone (Single) or as a pair (Duo). For Duo games, the game eliminations net you 10 Hype points, while the Singles game eliminations net you 20. Regardless of how you play it, you’ll still need to acquire the respective number of Hype points in order to rank up. A player earns Hype points in many different ways including how high you finish in your specific match to how many players you’ve eliminated during the game. You need to pay close attention to your health in Arena Mode, as it works differently as compared to other Fortnite games. In the Fornite Arena, you get awarded a healing bonus during the eliminations. You can get up to 50% HP. After 50%, your healing bonus is automatically converted into a shield. This is called Siphon, which pushes players to become more aggressive with the way they play, speeding up the matches. Players are limited to carrying only 500 of each kind, which also pushes players to be more aggressive within the game as aim takes precedence over building.
